  1. 1977

    The Regional Municipality of Ottawa-Carleton approved expansion of Barrhaven in 1977. The Ontario Municipal Board limited the planned expansion in 1978, and the provincial cabinet overruled that decision in 1979, leading to the area's growth. en.wikipedia.org
